The Dragon Slayer

Michael L. Reynolds

Copyright2004

The dragon slayer woke up,

To a world of darkness,

A world that lived in fear

That the dragon will devour them.

The dragon slayer grew,

Training in the fantasies of man

On stage and in film.

He grew in success

In everything that he did.

From poverty to riches

Never forgetting his humble beginnings.

The he took the reigns of California,

Slaying the little dragons plaguing them.

One by one he slewed them,

Cutting off their ugly heads.

No one took him seriously,

Thinking he was still acting out fantasy.

Then he decided to take on the biggest of all dragons

So he took control of the whole country.

The dragons lined up in a row,

Waiting to burn the dragon slayer

At the stake of ridicule.

But ever smiling he sliced their heads off

Bringing them to a quick end.

The last dragon, the greatest of all,

Who kept the world in darkness and fear,

And who devoured many

Who dare to slay him

Came face to face

With this fearless aged dragon slayer.

And much to its surprise,

This dragon slayer who was aged beyond

Any leader this country ever had seen,

And who overcame any ridicule

About his so called fantasy

Of victory where everyone else failed..

Then this ever smiling dragon slayer

Slew the monster with the sword of his word.

Now the world is breathing freer, and without fear

The darkness has been lifted

With the wisdom and strength

Of this aged dragon slayer.

Then the dragon slayer

Suddenly lost all his strength

As if it was timed;

He started to walk into the sunset of his life.

He walked for a decade into that sunset,

And now he has arrived to a new sunrise

With renewed strength

And ageless across the golden shores

And now even he can touch

The face of God.

We will miss him our dragon slayer

And our President number 40.

No one can ever slay the beast like he has.

The Fallen Still Stand

The fallen still stands as he lays,

On foreign soil where he has been

Cut down in his prime,

Defending the freedom

He loves so dearly.

The fallen still stands defending

The liberty of his fellow man

And restoring the freedom and liberty

To those who crave what we have

And have been imprisoned

In the darkness of tyranny.

The fallen still stands on the shores of birth,

Along the side of the Statue of Liberty

And waving Old Glory.

And as he defends the land of his birth

Defending our shores from those who hate us

Because we are free and prosperous and strong.

Each day the fallen still stands

And we forget them not.

And each day the fallen still stands

Guarding our shores

While we live and go about our lives.

The fallen still stands in the hearts

Of those they love

Because they are committed to a cause

A cause of freedom and liberty.

God forbid we forget those who have fallen

For they have fought in vain,

But those who do remember

And keep them in their hearts,

The fallen still stands.

God and Freedom

God and Freedom is the foundation of life

And shores up the rights of man,

So that he stands against evil.

Freedom strengthens the man.

God and Freedom exist hand in hand

With the man who loves peace.

Who will stand to defend freedom?

Who will lift up freedom to those

Who are oppressed.?

Who will lay down their life

So that his neighbor may live.

Freedom will stand long,

Long after tyranny has passed.

Freedom will lead us into eternal life.

For without God we have no freedom.

And now we stand hand in hand

With God and Freedom.
